Concentration Statement

For my concentration I created a story with two dolls. The story is made humorous by the use of dolls, but the lighting and layout tell a sincere story of two people. The story shows how both "people" start out being lonely and desperate, and they end up finding each other and becoming friends. I used eye level in the photos to make the dolls seem more human sized and real. By shooting photos from the doll's eye level it doesn't make them appear so small. Also, the natural lighting further humanizes the dolls because its clearly outside, because these figures swould not normally be found outside. For principals of design I am focusing on texture, leading lines, color, light, and space. I've chosen this idea because I have seen a lot of people I love go through this same situation.

  1. I really like your new concentration theme, I like the colors of the dolls and how you actually created a story with them, one thing I think I would change would to brighten the colors, but that's just me. I really like your final image where they are holding hands, super cute! You did a great job!!

  2. damn girl! these are so freaking cool! they're slightly creepy...but in the best possible way! you did a really great job with finding pictures that went really well together. I really like the one that is second to last; I really like how the boy is in focus and the girl isn't. Props lady!

  7. I really like your choice of story to describe with these dolls. It can be a bit difficult sometimes, especially if they're not human, but you did a good job! I really like how you took a variety of pictures including different angles and bringing out the texture of the dolls. Great job!

  8. You did a wonderful job bringing out the character and loneliness of the male doll, especially in the picture where hes standing all alone by the fence. The two dolls are beautiful and look awesome together. It's a really touching theme and your subject matter conveys the material so well. I'm very impressed.

  9. your theme was super creative and unbelievable. I think it's great that you used dolls to tell a story. It kind of reminds me of romeo and julliet, except your dolls don't die. Your pictures look great, and they have good editting

  10. This is a really unique idea. The texture and variety in each shot is fab. The entire series is just the right amount of creepy for the subject matter--without going over the top. Well done.
