Concentration Statement

For my concentration I created a story with two dolls. The story is made humorous by the use of dolls, but the lighting and layout tell a sincere story of two people. The story shows how both "people" start out being lonely and desperate, and they end up finding each other and becoming friends. I used eye level in the photos to make the dolls seem more human sized and real. By shooting photos from the doll's eye level it doesn't make them appear so small. Also, the natural lighting further humanizes the dolls because its clearly outside, because these figures swould not normally be found outside. For principals of design I am focusing on texture, leading lines, color, light, and space. I've chosen this idea because I have seen a lot of people I love go through this same situation.

Fresh Start

Well, over the break I did some brainstorming and took some pictures, and this set inspired me more than my previous ones did, so i decided to just run with it. these are a few of the photos I took, and I'm still working on editing and deciding how to order them.

Next

This is the next photo that I plan on mixing with the following, in the same way I did the other black and white one.
I think these will go well together because in the photo the woman looks old and kind of wrinkeled and the building are old and weathered.

Whats Next:

Next, I'm planning on creating more images like the one in my last post, and experimenting with some in color as well. I also want to try creating diptychs with some of them too, maybe with an image similar to one of the layered photos, or maybe of something else with a similar texture.

March 7th

In this image I first took the portrait photo and enhanced the contrast to create brighter whites and darker shadows. Then I selected the most highlighted part of the photo and allowed it to show through to the image of the graffiti art behind it.

Experiment

This photo is one of my experiments in photoshop. The original photo is of a graffitied brick wall and I used photoshop to make it transparent to show the portrait through. The photo used contrast and value to emphasize the eyes.

Trains, Tracks, and Graffiti (part 2)

More photos from this weekend...

In this photo I used photoshop and created two layers with copies of the photo. I made one saturated and contrasted, to be the "living" person. The other photo was made dull and pale, to be the "dead" person. then I erased away some of the living person to "decay" the face.

Trains, Tracks, an Graffiti

This weekend I went down to the train tracks and took photos of trains, graffiti, and the train tracks. This is one photo I took of a train. I edited it 6 different ways, and I am still deciding which one i like best.

FEBRUARY 9

 Weekend ONE pictures:
My first set of pictures are of my mom, and I am currently learning how to use photoshop filters, so I started playing around with those today too.
